Awards, and Other Writing

It all started when I was a young child intensely captivated by all animals, domestic and wild. I wanted to be a veterinarian; that was the only job I knew of where I would be surrounded by animals. In the absence of other options for me as I emerged from a difficult childhood, I joined the Army at 19 to be a Vet Tech for the Military Working Dogs (and at the veterinary clinic for soldiers' pets on post). Even back then, I was the writer who volunteered to provide for all of my company's and the clinic's copy needs.

I saw and eagerly seized similar writing opportunities through more than a decade of positions in the animal welfare industry including work with clinics, rescues and NPOs, local government animal organizations, spay neuter clinics, and more.

As I developed as an animal professional and a writer, I was also developing some mobility issues which made animal handling and restraint increasingly difficult for my body. Moving into a different field was not an option for me - my passion is with animals and animal organizations! Then, several years ago, it was time to reassess how I could continue to make a difference for animal and pet organizations while still doing something I love to do.

 

I went back to school to finish my BA in English, which I'd started while I was in the Army 15 years prior. It was there I affirmed my propensity for writing and my instincts toward conversion copywriting.

My life has led me here. This is me following my truest path. My love of research, getting-it-right, and attention to detail will make your business stand out from the rest!
